WHAT WE BELIEVE

EFFECTIVE THERAPY CAN BE CONDUCTED IN THE HOME...

And its Advantages are:

  • Attending school and other individual therapies

  • Family Involvement

  • Coordination of Care

When searching for therapy options, parents may soon find out that some facilities are an "all or nothing" approach, have long waiting lists,  and provide minimal family involvement. Facilities may also require a full day commitment to ABA therapy in their facility. This eliminates the child's exposure to his/her peers at school and their ability to attend other specialized therapy sessions such as ST, PT, and OT. Though facility-based ABA is effective, we find this approach to be restrictive and isolating. In-home ABA is based on working around a family's real-life schedule. Also, by being in the home, we encourage the family to be involved in the program, which is a major component of a child's progress. Behavioral management/education does not end after the therapist leaves. It's a 24/7 approach. As good behaviors surface, undesirable behaviors may emerge. Our therapy team's function is to educate not only the child, but also educate the family on how to identify and address these less-desirable behaviors. The last, and possibly most important function of AHS, is coordinating care. It is imperative that information that is collected regarding a child's progress is effectively communicated amongst all disciplines, including the school.

Getting involved in ABA  therapy at an early age is paramount when working with individuals with ASD.
